Voiceworks at Freeplay and Emerging Writers Festival 2020
Voiceworks have been lucky across our sweet young life to collaborate with lots of wonderful festivals and organisations to produce exciting and weird events that we couldn’t do alone. With festivals moving online in 2020 for public health reasons, these events are now accessible in perpetuity wherever you are in the world. Here’s a round up of events we had in June collaborating with long-time favs EWF and our new pals at Freeplay!
Playful: A Reading
Playful is a showcase of pieces from Voiceworks (print and online) that look at ‘Play’ tonally, thematically and formally.
Readings by: Rory Green, Carly Stone & Lujayn Hourani, Cecile Richard, Jess Cockerill and Riley Frances Daisy
Hosted by: Emily Osborne
Games as Digital Literature
Games and literature share a common thread: both involve telling stories with heart and imagination. So how can these two creative communities support one another? Voiceworks Online editors, game designers and writers working at the cutting edge of the Australian literary community discuss their experiences using games to tell stories, and share what how literary approaches to narrative could benefit gamemakers.
Panelists: Rory Green, Carly Stone, Cecile Richard and Lujayn Hourani.
‘Fresh Air’ Launch
In partnership with the Emerging Writers’ Festival, Voiceworks Online brings you a week of fresh air. Each day, a new breath. Each day, a new artist presents a new digital work. At the end of the week, watch the artists guide you through their pieces. This event also marks Voiceworks Online‘s shift to periodic publishing. Read these pieces in full here.
Readings by: Zowie Douglas-Kinghorn, Danielle Goder, Evie Hilliar, Lauren Ironmonger and Lauren Shelley
Hosted by: Rory Green, Carly Stone and Emily Osborne
